The Vancouver that once was is no more...

On my eighth year living in my beloved Vancouver, I have seen many many changes, and not always for the best. Small but significant things caught my attention, such as people jaywalking, crossing the street on red lights, cars not respectful of the pedestrians crossing the streets when they want to turn right even though the lights are red for them, the number of people throwing litter on the streets in unbelievable, especially cigarette butts. Homeless people is becoming aggressive on Granville Street, even people having sex in a street in plain daylight. Some businesses are not respecting their surrounds, carelessly reserving public parking spots for their valets, moving planters that were placed to separate the bike lane from the cars removed to facilitate their parking. Homelessness has increased to an alarming level. Vancouver has also become almost unbearably expensive, what causes the average citizen unaffordability and consequently need to move to the suburbs. Vancouver is becoming sad and dark. The lively city that once was...is no more!
